OPPORTUNITY
Upon launching a new media website, The Nature Conservancy wanted to raise awareness of the site and explain what it has to offer. SOLUTION I made a visual pun out of an iPad (playing on lily pad), a “pool of knowledge,” and a frog, an animal that travels between both land and water. I composited seven images in Photoshop to create this ad, and wrote the copy. This ad was printed in environmentally-themed magazines and journals. |
OPPORTUNITY
The entire planet faces environmental challenges, and The Nature Conservancy does a huge diversity of work to help. At the start of a new year, The Nature Conservancy wanted to summarize the key priorities ahead according to its program directors. SOLUTION I designed and copyedited a booklet featuring statements from our global and regional directors (excerpt shown here). The organization posted this online and made it publicly downloadable (designed to be desktop printer-friendly). |

OPPORTUNITY
I was given three days to design a desktop-printable report, redo all data visualizations, and insert all of the desired pull-quotes, photos, and call-out boxes alongside the text. SOLUTION I created a flexible grid and then worked really, really fast. |

OPPORTUNITY
The Nature Conservancy released a dense, technical report on the benefits of trees in 245 cities around the world. We needed an approachable way to summarize and share key points with the public. SOLUTION I proposed, illustrated, and animated a set of gifs that presented key data points with minimal text, sharable on social media. These gifs became the most popular Tweets for the organization in 2016. The gif on air pollution received 108 retweets, and the gif on shade effects received more than 225 retweets. |
OPPORTUNITY
The Nature Conservancy wanted to educate people about the importance of fresh water and their local water sources, but needed a way to attract and entice their audience. SOLUTION I proposed, illustrated, and animated this GIF that visually depicts the stated percentages in the text, and sparks curiosity. |
