OPPORTUNITY
The Borevitz Lab is a team of plant scientists who use cutting-edge technologies to develop gene-based solutions for landscape issues. With its expanding production of digital media, the group needed a logo to convey its work themes while being distinctive at any scale—from smartphones to auditorium presentation screens. SOLUTION I designed a logo inspired by computer motherboards and forest trees, representing the lab's commitment to researching natural systems with technological tools. The logo shows trees in different growth stages supporting each other, representing the lab’s highly inclusive, collaborative spirit. The shape of the B mimics the shape of an SD memory card, a staple for the lab. I also produced a logo usage guidebook. |
OPPORTUNITY
The MacArthur Foundation hosts the 100&Change competition, awarding one team $100 MILLION to improve the world in a big way. The Borevitz Lab at the Australian National University hired me to help them apply for this ultra-competitive grant. A big challenge was articulating the complex science that the Borevitz Lab does. SOLUTION I produced this short video as an overview of what the lab aims to accomplish. I overlaid simple key words to help clarify the narrative, and I combined footage that I shot in Australia with clips from partners. I also helped to produce a website and write the grant itself. While we did not advance to the finalist stage, our application made it to the Wise Head Panel review (the top 25% of applications)! |
