I’m Maya, a visual designer with expertise in branding and writing.
In 2015, I decided to take a leap. I left science academia to pursue what I really wanted: a career in design. It was one of the riskiest and most rewarding decisions I’ve ever made.
My work has led me to collaborate with wonderful people at the California Academy of Sciences, Landor & Fitch, The Nature Conservancy, Forte Labs, Australian National University, and Seth Godin Productions, where I helped to launch and lead The Marketing Seminar. I’ve published articles in Adobe Create, Communication Arts, CreativePro, InDesign Magazine, HOW, and PRINT Magazine, among other design publications.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts with honors from the University of Chicago and a Master of Science from Cornell University, where I received the university’s Excellence in Teaching Award for the writing courses I developed and taught as a graduate student.
Outside of work, I enjoy reading, running, drawing, and eating ice cream—but never all at the same time.
